I am a professionally trained contemporary dancer, an experienced choreographer and a highly established community dance artist
DANCE TRAINING
At the age of eight I started my journey into dance as a recipient of the Heinz-Bosl Foundation Scholarship on the Diploma Course in Classical Ballet at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Munich. I continued my training in Classical Ballet through the vocational courses of the Royal Academy of Dance as a teenager. I received my training in contemporary dance at Trinity Laban as a student of the Professional Diploma in Dance Studies.
CHOREOGRAPHY
My professional dance training at Trinity Laban entailed extensive studies in choreography, repertoire as well as choreological studies according to the Rudolf Laban principles. I further developed my choreographic practice within the context of my work with Dance United contributing to the company’s repertoire through numerous artistic collaborations with established choreographers. As an independent choreographer I have created work for professional companies as well as non-trained dancers.
COMMUNITY DANCE PRACTICE
As a Dance Artist Trainee with Dance United I received extensive on-the-job training in their unique methodological approach working with vulnerable and marginalised young people. Over time I progressed to the role of Dance Director and successfully directed projects in London, Winchester and Kent. Additionally, I played a key role in developing and delivering their ground breaking work in mental health under the umbrella of The Alchemy Project. Within the context of my doctoral research at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, I am establishing a theoretical foundation of this unique approach to Community Dance practice.
